Earlier this year, UAE-based AMEA Power began construction on the 50 MW Al Husainiyah Power Plant in Jordan, a greenfield solar park in the Ma’an Governorat.
We spoke to Hussain Al Nowais in London, where he is transiting following visits to Senegal and Togo. Al Nowais is the trusted, go-to person in the United Arab Emirates when it comes to African affairs.
AMEA Power has reached financial close and will begin the construction of the $74mn Al Husainiyah Power Plant, a 50MW greenfield solar park in Ma’an Governorate (~200 km south of Amman) in Jordan.
AMEA Togo Solar will build a 50MW solar plant in Blitta (271km north of Lomé). The related concession agreement was signed on November 26, 2019, by the firm and the government. Their respective representatives were Hussain Jasim Alnowais and Dèdèriwè Ably Bidamon, Minister of Energy.
AMEA Power, (a subsidiary of Al Nowais Investments (ANI)), has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for a 200MW solar PV project and a 500MW wind power project in Egypt.
